Dirty Play Hammond quickly realized they were outmatched and resorted to cheap shots, slugs, kicks and just aboue every dirty trick in the book. Rube Ursella suffered a wrenched knee and had to go to see Dr. Watson of the Iowa Hawkeys in Iowa City. Duey Lyle was deliberately kicked in the face and needed seven stitches to close the gap on his upper lip. Ed Healey was “cleated” clear to the bone and needed five stitches in the cheek. Next Game Rock Island will try to stay undefeated as they welcome the Starch makers of Decatur to town. Source - Rock Island Argus October,11 1920
