INDEPENDENTS PRIMED TO OPEN SEASON TOMORROW AGAINST FAST A.A.C. CLUB OF ROCKFORD

Team Weight of 2,000 pounds with an average weight of 182. The team will be holding a light drill tonight to allow Fred Chicken and Dewey Lyle to absorb the signals. Rockford has put in strenuous practice every night over the last week in preparation for this game. This 1919 team is undoubtedly the best aggression under the green and white. Independents line averages 189 pounds. Expected Starters LE Mansfield, LT Bradshaw, LG Wyland, C Robb, RG Lyle, RT Buland, RE Dempsey. The backfield averages 176 pounds. Expected Starters LH Henry, RH Chicken, FB Jorgenson, QB Ursella.

Player Updates Everyone knows what Fred Chicken can do, he consistently racks up 4 or 5 yards per crack, he is a gluten for running the with the ball and can never be tired out. Robb has worked at Center since Thursday night and his ability at the position is known by every fan. Ursella is without a doubt the peer of quarterbacks, he possesses an uncanny knowledge of the game and ability to direct play with machine-like precision. He is a luminary in all departments of the game.

This will be Henrys 2nd appearance at Douglas Park, the first was in 1917 with the Alton team. He made nearly three-fourths of the tackles for Alton vs the Independents. Jorgenson played with the Independents 2 years back and in 1918 starred with Camp Sherman a team in the South.

Rockford Hopes In Langquist at center, Rockford pins its hopes to stop the terrific onslaught of the Independents. Their system of play is based along the lines employed at Yale University. The coach is Anthony Haines, all-American end. Grid followers can rest assured that a team under his tutelage will not present a weak team. Whatever the outcome, the Independents are certain to find themselves pitted against a team with fight to match their own.
