Setting - Despite a stiff bone chilling wind out of the northwest more than 3,000 football fans made their way to Island City Park yesterday. The Red Men defended the north goal and had the wind advantage in the 1st and 3rd quarters while the Independents had it in the 2nd and 4th.

Game - The Independent started off badly when Whisler fumbled the ball on his own 3 yard line. On the very next play Meersman smashed through center for the touchdown. Herb Sies later kicked a place kick that hit off the goal post but bounce thru.

Blown Chances - In the 2nd quarter MacManus attempted a 50 yard drop kick which fell several feet short. In the 4th quarter the Independents had the ball at the 1 foot line but could not punch it across on third down. With no choice but to go for it on 4th, Waddy Kuehl intercepted the ball off of Brandt's finger tips to preserve the shutout.

Result - With the series being tied it is thought that the two teams might meet again in a few weeks to settle the score.
