INDEPENDENTS WIN AS DES MOINES SCORES THE FRIST TOUCHDOWN OF 1914 AGAINST LOCALS November 8th, 3:10PM - Losing Hanley on the first play from scrimmage didn't help the Alexandrias. Then the game came to a stop for 10 minutes when Good's nose was broken on the second play. Hanley and Good were key players for the visitors and they never seemed to recover.

Visitors Score - The score against the Independents was just the second defensive score allowed in 3 seasons. The play was a 30 yard pass from Hyatt to Cox who then ran it with great blocking 45 yards for the score. The home crowd cheered the effort. Source -Rock Island Argus October 9th, 1914 |
