INDEPENDENTS WIN FIRST OF SEASON The recently formed Rock Island Independents traveled to Muscatine and took the opening game of the season. The game was a scoreless tie until late in the 4th period. Mack took a pass from Means and then passed the ball to left end Murphy who took the ball 35 yards for a touchdown. In other Tri City football news, the Rock Island Maroons, (formerly the Centrals) defeated the Davenport West Ends by a score of 20-0. Colman formerly of the Independents started with the Maroons. The Maroons lineup: Caulfield, C; F. Smith, RG; Guinn and Kinkaid, RT; Juhl, RE; Voss and Dowers, LG; Wilhite, LT; Flannigan, LE; R.
